About Elder Sharples

Me, in the vineyard of the Lord.  Also, an actual vineyard.  Go figure.
Because I will have your complete and undivided attention for the next 18 weeks (Right?  *Crickets Chirping* Right?), I have decided to make a page devoted to yours truly, and who I am.  So, if you have anything better to do with the next five minutes (which I'm absolutely positive you do), I suggest you go and do it because you are not going to get these five minutes back.  Still here?  Good.  Now, because lists are one of my favorite things in the whole world, ranking up there with ties, red velvet cake, and Spongebob (See?  I'm even using a list to describe how much I love lists), I am going to make an easy-to-read list that will tell you more than you ever wanted to know about me.

1.  I am a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  Meaning I go out every day and share a message about how God has once again called a prophet, and that the Gospel of Jesus Christ has been brought back to the earth after being lost.  It's very rewarding and fulfilling, and I know that the message is true.

2.  I was born and raised in the great state of Utah.  I've lived most of my life in a city called South Jordan.  You may have heard of it.  It's the only city in the world with two temples.  That's really our only claim to fame.  It's pretty much the heart of "Mormon Utah", at least if you ask anyone who lives there, which, by visiting this blog, you indirectly did.

3.  I have five people in my family.  I have an older brother, Ben, an older sister, Shelby, and a mom and dad (obviously), Rick and Phyllis.  My brother and sister are both married to awesome people, Kim and Steve, respectively.  Everyone in my immediate family is a returned missionary, with me bringing up the tail end.  My mom and dad met on their missions in Florida (it wasn't like that...), my brother went to Chile, and my sister went to Brazil.  Each of them insists that their mission is the greatest, but I know that mine really is.  I love my family so much and I know that I can live with them forever through the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

4.  In case you haven't noticed, I am in love with a certain few things.  The Gospel, ties, Dr. Pepper, lists, parentheses (I'm really surprised I spelled that right on the first try (Man, parentheses again, I'm hooked)), backpacking, hiking, camping, I could probably go on, but in the interest of your time, I won't.

5.  I told my parents that I wanted to be a superhero when I grow up.  They said I'd probably have to have a "plan b".  So, until I can find a radioactive spider to be bitten by, or happen to cross a gamma ray testing facility, I'm planning on going to medical school.  You should pray for me, I'm definitely going to need it.

6.  Well, I'm pretty sure I've posted the only five interesting things about me; however, if you can think of anything interesting (assuming you know me), feel free to leave it in the comment box below.  If anyone can come up with something interesting enough, I'll put it as the sixth thing!  Put your thinking caps on, because it's going to be a toughie.  UPDATE:  Turns out there is no comment box.  So, sixth interesting thing:  I'm a genius.
